What is a Radon Inspection?
Radon is an inert gas that is present in the soil. It is caused by the radioactive decay of Uranium over time, and it is the second leading cause of Lung Cancer in the US, behind smoking. The State of Ohio has the 4th highest levels of radon in the US due to the presence of huge Ohio shale deposits. Radon finds its way into homes through gaps in the foundation, plumbing chases, sump pumps, and crawl spaces, and it can even be present in the water. Our State of Ohio licensed inspectors will run a 48-hour test on our continuous radon monitors (CRM) to test for this carcinogen to assess if there is a need for mitigation to reduce the levels below the EPA-suggested 4 pCi/L.
